There are two primary types of health insurance plans, comprehensive and basic.
Comprehensive plans provide excellent catastrophic coverage, but also includes "first dollar" benefits on minor items such as preventative care, doctor visits, specialists and prescriptions. These plans can create a balance by covering your day to day uses with simple co-pays, yet give you the opportunity to set your deductible at a level that you can afford.
Basic plans provide full coverage, but typically require that you meet an annual deductible before benefits are paid by the carrier.
